More on our continuing coverage of the war on Ukraine by Vladimir Putin's Russia
0:11
We're directly opposite the Sky Hotel in Krakow, having arrived literally 10 minutes ago
0:18
Jason's had a quick wash and we've come straight out directly opposite the hotel
0:23
And the first thing that we see are tents receiving refugees from, you know
0:29
Ukraine and from the border where they're being processed and then brought into town boxes
0:35
upon boxes of baby clothes, nappies, all kinds of goods that we can see here
0:42
As you come through the back of these tents and into the main square where the railway station
0:50
lets out, you can see queues of people lined up and health workers receiving the guests
0:59
that have come in from war-torn Ukraine. Obviously, a lot of humanity that can be viewed here
1:10
It's very much like previous situations that have been witnessed in Macedonia
1:19
on the border there during the Kosovo war as well But we are in the centre of Krakow a European city and they are receiving refugees from a country that being bombed There are some military people in evidence as well
1:36
but all taking part in the humanitarian effort. And we're going to take a walk around town
1:41
and maybe bring you a little bit more later on. But these are our first impressions. You can tell
1:47
there are lots of different charities involved here. And as I mentioned, the military
1:52
helping the humanitarian effort and cues as the trains come in and as people are taken through those tents
2:00
and not quite much, but I don't really understand any Ukrainians so I don't know what those signs say
2:05
I don't think Jason your Ukrainian is a bit worse than yours
2:10
But yeah, we'll get a few more ideas as we get around town and see what's happening here today
2:16
But otherwise, driving in, it's just like any other European city. Everything is normal as you would expect
2:21
until you hit this square and you see exactly the results of Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine
2:28
and the subsequent bombing of its people and their flight to somewhere
2:35
which is hopefully going to provide some refuge for them at least temporarily
2:41
It's Cal Sutherland for Bay Radio in Krakow. You know
