So if you work in coaching or training or you just share a lot of step-by-step tutorials with
0:05
co-workers or teammates, I'm going to show you a new Chrome extension that's going to make your
0:10
life so much easier and that is called Guide. But before I do, feel free to subscribe to my
0:16
YouTube channel where each week I'll be sharing new videos on a variety of different topics
0:23
So this is Guide. You can find it at guide.com. It is a Chrome extension and let me tell you
0:29
it is awesome. To get started, what you'll want to do is to click this button that says
0:34
install free extension and that will add Guide into your Chrome extensions which obviously means
0:39
you need to use the Chrome browser. Once Guide is installed, you can go right to the website that
0:44
you want to create a tutorial for. My tutorial is here. It is Synthesia because they recently
0:50
redid their interface. So I want to make visual documentation that's going to walk my teammates
0:55
through using Synthesia. So if I just click on the Chrome extension right over here at the top
1:01
it now gives me the option to capture the window and it's now recording me. So I just have to go through
1:11
and show what I want to demonstrate. So I'm going to create a scene
1:15
and I think I'm just about done. So once you're finished, all we have to do is
1:29
go back over here to our Chrome extensions. Let's go ahead and hit stop
1:34
You'll see the Guide button at the bottom left hand side. It's now going to take us to app.guide.co
1:41
where it will take a few seconds to process. Okay, so we're good and you'll notice if I scroll
1:46
down a little bit, it took screenshots of every step that I did to create this video. You can
1:52
also find those screenshots right over here to the left hand side for easy access. So what that means
1:59
is not only do you have step-by-step directions, but you also have a visual that will go along
2:05
with those individual steps. You'll also notice that if I hit the play button, it's going to
2:11
create almost like a slideshow where you can view each of those steps in succession. Now
2:16
what happens if you want to add additional information on these slides? Guide makes it
2:22
really easy. You just have to scroll up at the top where it says edit. That is now going to open up
2:29
an editing option which will be very similar to PowerPoint. You can do lots of things such as move
2:35
the text around, change the color of the text. If I wanted to, I could change the background of this
2:40
image. But what I really like is right over here you'll notice that you can move different elements
2:47
of your slides around if you would like. The other option is what if you wanted to add a voiceover
2:52
That's no problem. There is this option to select voiceover where you just have to select your
2:58
microphone right over here. There's also an option where I can add a text to voice feature
3:04
So rather than me speaking in a voice, I can just go ahead and type some text and choose one of these
3:10
sample voices to automatically read that text back to whoever will be watching this tutorial
3:16
Once we're finished, let's go ahead and select save changes. Okay, and now we are good. We want
3:22
to take this visual documentation and we want to share it with our co-workers. So there's a few
3:28
different options. If you click the share button right over here at the top right hand side, you'll
3:33
notice you can copy it as a link, copy it as a gif, or even copy it as html text which is nice
3:39
There's also this option as a smart copy which is going to give you several different choices of
3:45
where you can embed this video into. There's also an option where you can create either an mp4 or
3:52
a gif file. So a lot of different ways for you to share your work. So what I'm going to do is just
3:58
select this option. I'm going to hit copy link. So now when I email this to my co-workers, they click
4:05
on this link. This is what they'll have. It's a really nice documentation along with screenshots
4:13
and potentially even voiceovers. I think this is so much more helpful than email or maybe a screencast
4:20
or even text directions for co-workers. This will make your life so much easier and I can't wait to
4:26
try it out more. So the website is called Guide. You can download the free Guide Chrome extension
4:33
and you can create your own interactive tutorials that you can share with co-workers, students
4:39
or anyone else that you would like. So thank you so much for watching this video. If you have any
4:45
questions, go ahead and leave them in the comments section below
