In this presentation, learn how you can use captions
0:03
in PowerPoint to make your presentation accessible for everyone. But before we do that, consider subscribing
0:12
to my YouTube channel where each week I'll be uploading new content on a variety of different topics
0:17
So thanks for your consideration and now let's talk about PowerPoint. So there's a feature in PowerPoint
0:23
that I just learned about and that's the ability to add captions to your presentation
0:28
as you present in real time. It's very easy to do this
0:32
To turn them on, just select Slideshow and hover over to where it says Always Use Subtitles
0:39
Now from here, I have several different options under Subtitle Setting. The first thing I can do is select the microphone
0:46
that I want to use to provide the audio to my computer, which will then transcribe in real time
0:51
I can also select where I want the caption to go. I'm just going to keep it below the actual slide
0:58
And then finally, something that's really cool about this is you can choose which language
1:03
you want the subtitles to go in. We'll talk about that in a second
1:07
But I have my subtitles turned on and now when I launch my presentation in presenter mode
1:15
you should now be able to see the captions at the bottom of the screen as I present
1:21
Now for the most part, I found that this works pretty well
1:26
It transcribes your voice fairly accurately. Of course, it may take a little getting used to
1:31
to make sure that you're able to use this and you can figure out how this will work best
1:37
with your voice. But I think for the most part, this works good
1:40
Now let's talk a little bit about something else we can do. That's going back to Subtitle Settings
1:45
One of the really unique features of this is your spoken language can be English like mine is
1:51
But let's say that I'm overseas and I have an international audience of speakers
1:56
whose native language is not English. I could scroll down and just choose, let's say Spanish
2:01
So now when I present, my audience, who is a Spanish speaking audience
2:06
will be able to see my captions in their own language. I believe that the technology here is Microsoft Translator
2:18
So if you know that program, then this should give you an idea of how accurate
2:23
and how well this translates. So the next time that you need to present
2:29
turn on Subtitles to make your presentation accessible to everyone. And I'll see you in the next video. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye
