Welcome to EdTechHustle. My name is Rich and today I'm going to show you how you can convert a
0:05
PowerPoint presentation to a text-based email in just a few seconds. Let's get started. So I have
0:12
this huge presentation. It's an introductory lesson on how to use Seesaw. Now there's a lot
0:19
in here. I think it's 90 some pages long and what I need to do is to summarize this in an email. I
0:27
don't want to go through and have to copy and paste text and I don't want to write this on
0:32
my own. I'm just looking for a quick way to summarize this entire presentation. Luckily
0:38
I can do that with Canva. So if I open Canva, my first step is going to be to select create design
0:44
and I'm going to go down to where it says import file and I'm gonna import my PowerPoint presentation
0:49
You can see that Canva is now importing my file. I should see it shortly. And here is my presentation
0:56
One of the nice things that Canva does is it can convert a PowerPoint presentation to a Canva
1:02
presentation in just seconds. So my PowerPoint presentation is here. It is fully editable
1:08
which is nice. But what I really want to do is convert this to an email that I can send to
1:14
someone. So this is a new feature in Canva and it is called Magic Switch. So I'm going to go all the
1:19
way to the top where it says Magic Switch and I'm going to choose this option, translate into doc
1:26
When I select that, you can see that there's a number of different text formats that are here
1:32
One thing I could do is just convert it completely to all text. That means all of the text in this
1:37
presentation would show up in a Canva doc. But instead, what I'm going to do is select email
1:43
You can see it's going to write a draft email based on my design. Let's go ahead and see how
1:48
this turns out. So it took about a minute or so, but as you can see, my doc appears to be ready
1:54
Let's go ahead and open it. Okay, here is my document. You can see the name of the presentation
1:59
It's been converted to an informative email. If I scroll down, I'm just going to go through and
2:05
read. And for the most part, I think that Canva did a pretty decent job in summarizing the contents
2:13
of this presentation. Now, of course, it's not going to be 100% perfect. This is really just a
2:19
draft of an email. So I'm going to have to go through, reread, and change part of it. But you
2:24
can do some of that in Canva. For instance, I can take all of this text. I can kind of highlight it
2:30
like that. Now, if I select the magic button, there's a couple different options. I can select
2:37
rewrite. And shortly, you should see Canva take that text and completely rewrite that in a different
2:44
way. Here's the new version in green and the old version above. Another thing I can do, if I just
2:50
think that this text is just too long, if I select it all, hit that magic button, I can select this
2:57
option that says summarize text. And there we go. This presentation is summarized to about a one
3:08
paragraph write-up. So that's it. It's a quick and easy way to take a PowerPoint presentation
3:13
or a Google Slides presentation, bring that into Canva, and then use Magic Switch to convert that
3:20
presentation into a text-based informative email. So I hope that this video saves you a little bit
3:26
of time. If you have any questions, leave them in the comment section below
