How to Make a YouTube Banner on Canva

Hey guys, welcome back. In this video, I'll be showing you guys how you can build your own YouTube banner on Canva

So let's get into it. Now, this tutorial is going to be beginner-friendly

so even if you're someone that has never used Canva and does not have a lot of design experience

you can still follow along to build your own amazing YouTube banner

Now, to get started, you will have to log on to Canva

and I have my Canva account over here. If you don't have a Canva account already

it's very simple to sign up. You just go onto Canva.com. Click on sign up on the top right

and you can continue with your email address or with Google. And I'm just going to take my Google account from here

and I can just sign in like this. And just like that, I have signed in to one of my accounts

So once you have signed in to your account on Canva, what you are going to do is get started with actually, you know, using Canva as a tool to design

Now, one thing you need to know is what is going to be the standard size of a YouTube banner

So if I go on to YouTube, just to show you guys an example, let's say I go into this channel over here

Now, this is a YouTube banner. So YouTube has different sizes that it would recommend, and you can Google that size

or usually on Canva, you can just go into the search bar over here, and then just search for YouTube banner

And once you search for YouTube banner, you will see different templates available

So you have the aesthetic YouTube banner or just the YouTube banner, and it will have the YouTube icon

This means that it will only show you designs and templates in this particular size, which is the recommended size by YouTube currently

it is 2560 into 1440 pixels So you just going to click on that and once you do this will open up the template gallery So in this template gallery you can go on ahead and start browsing the different templates available for your YouTube banner

Now, one thing to note is that if you want to build from scratch, you can always do that as well

However, if you want to create with a template or a basic structure just so that can help you in building, you can pick out any one of these templates

Now to find a template that most closely resembles what you are going for, you can go into the filters on the top over here

You can pick out a style. Let's say I want to go with a elegant style

And then you can also pick out a theme that you might want to follow. You can also pick out a feature

So if you want it to have any animation video or audio, then you have the free or pro

So let's say I only want to take a look at the free templates. and then you also have color options that you might want

So there are quite a few different templates available. Now, what I am going to do is I am going to pick out one template that I like

So just I'm going to scroll a little. And I am going to use this one over here

So I'm going to click on this template over here. And then I'm going to click on customize this template on the right

Once I do that, this will open up the entire template. Now, once you have opened up the template, you can get started with designing it

So, as you guys can see, YouTube banners are pretty skinny, and it's not going to be something that you want to, you know, include too much and you don't want it to be too crowded

Usually, it just has a subscribe button and some representative logos or icons

So first off, I'm going to put in my channel name. Let's say it's Jane Doe. And on the bottom it says, lifestyle, beauty, and fashion, I'm going to keep that and then has these two illustrations

Now if you want to upload your own images into this you can go in to the left panel over here and click on uploads And you can click on upload files and then you can upload media content of your own so let say if we have this image we might want to include

you can just upload that over here and once you upload that image you can insert it into your banner

so i can put in this image anywhere i like and you can also go ahead and go into the elements

section. Once you go into elements, you will have different graphics that you can choose from

So it will suggest some recommended graphics that might be similar to the ones that are present

within this template. So let's say I don't want two illustrations of people. I want to include these

instead. So I can put these over here. And then you can choose however you want to design the rest

of your banner. If you want to include maybe a bit more of a decorative element

You can go into the element section and then just search for, let's say I want to add stars

So I can go into the graphics section now and take one of the illustration of stars to include that as well

Let's say I want to include that in the background so I can just put this in like so

I only want this to be on this particular section like so

So I'm going to place it all over here like this. And then I'm going to do a right click

Then you're going to head on over to layer and then click on Send to Back

Once you do that, you can click on the top over here where it has this checkerboard icon

Click on the checkerboard icon and reduce the transparency. And now we have, you know, interesting effect that is present within our little section

Now from here we can add more text. To do that, click on text on the left panel and click on Add Textbox

And once you add your text box, you can choose whichever style of font and whichever style you want

Let's say I want to add the, or let's say I want to he wrote Vogue like this

And then I want to place it over here I can rotate this I can change the font style I can reduce the size From the top you can also go into the effect section and you can also add some effects

So you have a simple shadow, you have a lifted effect, a hollow effect, so you can increase the

thickness and make the text hollow. And you also have a splice, outline, echo, glitch, neon, and other types of effects as well

and you also have the option to curve your text at a certain angle like this

So we can curve our text as well to give it a more interesting look like this

and I can place it right above the model over here. And once you have completed designing your particular banner

all you have to do is click on Share on the top right and then click on download

Once you do that, you can download this as a PNG or PDF

So I'm going to download this as a PNG. And then you're going to go into your YouTube channel from here

So now you can go into your YouTube channel and get started with customization

And then from here you can go into your branding and click on upload over here in your banner image

Now you're going to take the particular banner that you created. Now you will see the different viewability
