How to edit videos in Canva
0:02
Hey guys, welcome back to the YouTube channel. Today, we'll be editing a few videos in Canva and exploring all the amazing features that it has
0:12
So, let's get into it. Now, Canva has a lot of different features, and it's not something you can use only for
0:20
graphic illustration, but you can do a lot of basic video editing
0:24
So let's just go into Canva and you can just open up a blank video template if you can't
0:29
You can't see it over here. Just search for video over here and you can just open up a blank template
0:37
You can just click on the blank video and you will get a blank template
0:41
Now, Canada has, you know, a bunch of different pre-designed templates you can pick out if you don't want a blank canvas
0:48
There are a lot of different ways that you can formulate your Canva videos, but we're going to start with the basics and then we are going to move up and get started with some of the more design-related features
0:59
So first off, when you have a blank canvas on Canva, you want to add your own video
1:05
That's what we're here for. We're here for video editing. So to add your own video, all you have to do is click on uploads on your left over here
1:14
click on videos, and you can just click on upload files, and you can just go on ahead and upload
1:21
whatever file you have in the MP4 file. I've already uploaded it just so it's a little easier for us to get started
1:28
So this is the video I uploaded. And once you have uploaded your videos, you just want to scale it to fit
1:34
You can obviously create a frame according to your video size if you're looking for a portrait mode video
1:40
So if you're doing this for Instagram or something, you can definitely do that as well
1:45
Now, in terms of sound, how does sound work with these kinds of videos
1:49
Well, just to show you guys an example, I will take another video instead of this one
1:54
So this is just like a very random video, but you can see my
1:58
audio is playing on this sound and we're going to be discussing sound later on so that's why i need
2:04
you guys to already understand what how you know which kind of sound is going to be playing on your
2:11
canada video so taking our initial video once more and i'm just going to put it in frame like this
2:19
now once i have my video uploaded what are you going to do if you want to trim or cut your video
2:25
So let's say I want to remove, you know, part of the video that's in the center
2:30
Well you guys can see on the top you have this little scissors and you can just click on that and you can trim the sides of your video But if you want to just cut out like a section or a clip from within for that you can just place your little preview bar from here and you can do a right click and click on
2:50
split page and then you can do a right click on where you want to you know end your clip that you
2:56
want to remove so you can just move it over there click on split page and then the central part
3:02
can be the one that you delete just so you have you know your little video however you wanted. So once you have the basics of editing done
3:11
so we have edit video, we have our basic editing, there are some premium features on Canva that are
3:17
super, super amazing like background removing features. So you guys can see this is a pro only feature
3:24
So it is not available on the free version of Canva, but I do think that it is quite a nice feature
3:31
to have because Canva does not charge a lot for their premium version either. So I do think it's
3:37
kind of worth it in many ways. Now, once you have, you know, trimmed out your video and laid it out
3:43
however you want. Let's say you want to include a picture and picture mode. So you want to add
3:49
B-roll footage, which is, you know, footage within your footage. So to do that, all you have to do
3:56
is go into your upload section once more. Once you are in your upload section, you want to
4:01
upload the video that you want to add. So let's say I just want to add this one. So let's say I want
4:06
to add this one. Now, this is a 44 second long clip. Now, I don't want it to be 44 seconds
4:12
so I'm just going to click on the top. Click on this. Let's say I want it to appear for like two
4:16
seconds and then click on done. Now, this is in picture and picture mode. Now, once you see this
4:23
so let's play it once more. So you guys can see this is what it's going to appear like. Now
4:28
if you want this to be full screen, like let's say you want the audio of your back video and you want to keep the front video
4:37
So you can increase the size and fit it on top. And then you can click on the top right over here and then choose to mute it
4:44
So you can mute the top video and keep the audio on full for your original video if you want this to be B-roll
4:52
So let's say it's a explainer video and, you know, explaining in the original video
4:56
and then you just cut to a very short clip of, you know, you doing the task or something like that
5:02
So for that, you can do this, and in that way, you can keep your original audio
5:07
Now, let's just go back and reset our footage. Now in terms of text and animation there is a lot you can do with Canva Because this is a design software you have a lot of different options so first off if you click on elements on the top left you can search for basically anything and find it over here
5:28
you can even search for things like frame and you have these multiple different kinds of frames you can
5:34
add so let's say i have this laptop frame you can add something like this and obviously it doesn't
5:39
fit the aesthetic of this video but for tech videos and stuff like that you can have
5:45
picture in picture mode like this as well. So if you go ahead and click on share, so I'm just going to
5:51
trim this as well like this. So if I click on share and or I just preview it, so you guys can see you
5:58
have your picture and picture mode in like this as well. Now, a very important thing to do is if you're
6:03
wanting to do picture in picture mode, just take the duration of your in-picture item. So let's say it's
6:10
2.7 seconds. Now what I would do is I would move my preview bar
6:15
to 2.7 seconds right over here and then I would just do a right click and click on split page
6:22
and then I like to remove the in-picture mode otherwise it just keeps on looping so if you don't want
6:29
the video to loop on you guys can see right now the entire thing plays and then it goes away obviously
6:34
you want to add any transition to make it look more seamless now to add transitions to an
6:39
individual item you can just click on the item click on animate on the top and then you can add any kind
6:45
animation so let's say I want to add a very basic one like this and I want to add it on both
6:52
entry and exit and you can choose the speed of this as well and now once I've done that let's play
6:58
it once more so you guys can see it looks a little bit smoother now another very important thing
7:03
is to have in-between transitions so if you want a transition to be added to all of the items all
7:09
of the graphics on your video you can click on animate on the top and just click on this
7:15
click on whichever animation you want to add. And then you have this option called Apply to All Pages
7:21
and this will basically apply the animation to all of the elements
7:25
all of the clips that you have added within your video. Now, we'll link on to our next section
7:32
which is different types of animations you can add. So if you want to add like text elements, let's say you want to add like a title
7:40
let's say we want to add like a title. So I would go into element search for something like banner
7:45
And I would go into graphics. There are a bunch of different cute little banners and let's tell I like this one
7:51
I can just place it over here like so and I can change the color from the top left And you guys can see this is like the duration of the item Obviously if you want a item to be added throughout the video so i would not trim the video i would just uh
8:08
added directly to my main page like this one like so and then you also have this position
8:16
section where you can choose you know exact dimensions but obviously it's just a lot easier to
8:20
place it like so and i will just click on edit over here edit the color
8:25
Then I would go into my text and you have multiple different text options as well
8:30
So if you want to do your own font, you can just click on add a heading or add a text box
8:35
And then from the top left, you can select any type of font
8:39
So let's say I want to do this one like this. And then I would just drag it from here
8:45
Place it in our little banner. And I'm going to decrease the size of this a little
8:50
And I'm going to rotate it a little as well, so it fits better. like so and now we have this little item added now if you wanted to obviously let's say i just wanted to
9:01
disappear once they start looking up so i would just split the video from here so what you can do is
9:07
like remove it it would be removed from the entire video so what you want to do is from here you just want
9:12
to do this click on split page and then from the next page you want to click on that remove this and now
9:19
you have you know a seamless little section and like this you have it removed and you have it removed and
9:23
you have this amazing little video. Now, I do recommend adding transitions to any of your cut effects
9:30
You can also add these kinds of items directly into your video
9:35
in more simpler forms, like a fading in item. So you guys can do that if you want to do like an intro or outro screen
9:44
All you have to do is go into the top left and you can click on design
9:48
Over here, you can just search for YouTube Outro. And you can see there are a lot of pre-made templates
9:54
So you can just click on this and you can just create this outro so you can just paste it at the end
10:02
And it could be like a five-second clip at the end added to your video. There are a bunch of different options you can choose from and you can customize the color and make it fit your video
10:12
You can do this with a basic intro. You know, it's not just for YouTube videos, other movies, videos, Instagram shorts, all of that stuff, needs intros and outros
10:21
So you can add these pre-existing templates to your videos. And in this way, I think you can do a pretty decent job at video editing with Canva as well
10:31
So I hope you guys found this video helpful. Make sure to leave a like and subscribe
