So there are two very helpful features in Microsoft Word
0:05
that will allow you to read the text out loud using a text to speech feature
0:11
And it's one that I don't think many people know about. So I wanna share both of those right now
0:16
One thing to keep in mind is the version of Word that I'm using is the Office 365 version
0:22
In order to access this, you will need an Office 365 account
0:28
or you will need Microsoft Office 2019 or higher. So this is my essay
0:35
and there's two ways that I can choose to read this out loud
0:39
So the first way that I wanna share with you is the Immersive Reader. If you go to the View tab
0:44
and if you click Immersive Reader, you will see a brand new window
0:48
Now up on the screen in the top right-hand side is a link to a deep dive video
0:52
that I did on the Immersive Reader. Check it out if you'd like to know more
0:56
That version will show you how to use the Immersive Reader in Word Online
1:01
Now inside Word that you're looking at, it will kind of give you a different view of your document
1:07
And if you push Read Aloud. Farm. In fact, he is the leader of Animal Farm
1:13
and a high-strung leader at that. That's one way that you can have your document
1:18
read the text out loud. That is using the Immersive Reader. The second way is a different feature
1:24
that's going to be similar. It's under the Review tab. And we're just going to select Read Aloud
1:30
Now, rather than bringing our view in a completely different window, if I select Read Aloud
1:36
After old Major died, Napoleon lived upon old Major's ideas. Napoleon lead all the animals
1:44
Okay, it will not leave into a different window. It will just automatically read the text out loud
1:49
and highlight each word at the same time. Exist and Animal Farm was born
1:56
In the first year, he even worked. So that read towards the middle of my document
2:03
where my cursor was. If I wanted to start right from the front, I just have to move my cursor to the word
2:09
that I want to start with. Click the play button. In the novel, Animal Farm by George Orwell
2:15
And it will read directly from that point. Now you can play around with the voices a little bit
2:20
by clicking the settings. By the voices, you can see the reading speed
2:24
You can make it a little faster. You can change the individual voice
2:29
Let's play it now. There is one very particular character whose pride and selfishness creates problems
2:36
So that will give you an idea. So hopefully between these two ways, if you're looking for a text to speech feature
2:42
for your document to help you listen to what you've written out loud
2:45
both of these ways will be helpful for you. So thanks for watching this video
