US, Phoenix: Youngtown Suspect Arrested By SWAT After Dragging Trooper While Fleeing Traffic Stop.

Phoenix, United States - September 11, 2026 09/11/2026 05:00 am GMT-0700 YOUNGTOWN, Ariz. – According to Arizona Department of Public Safety officials at the scene, the incident began around 1:30 AM when a DPS trooper initiated a traffic stop on a black sedan near 113th Avenue and Grand Avenue. The trooper attempted to detain the male driver of the sedan, but the suspect refused to cooperate. The suspect accelerated as the trooper was attempting to remove him from the vehicle. The trooper was dragged a short distance by the suspect's vehicle as the suspect fled the area. Fire crews responded and treated the trooper at the scene for minor injuries. Additional DPS troopers and El Mirage police officers saturated the surrounding area in search of the outstanding suspect's vehicle. Troopers obtained nearby surveillance footage and were able to positively identify the suspect. A short time later, El Mirage police located the vehicle involved in the incident parked outside a residence located near 111th Avenue and Duluth Avenue. DPS troopers responded to the area and established a perimeter around the property. An arrest warrant was issued, and DPS SWAT was mobilized. SWAT operators arrived at the residence with armored vehicles around 5:00 AM. SWAT issued several commands, ordering the suspect to exit the residence, but the suspect refused to comply. Flashbangs were deployed, and additional commands were issued with no response from the suspect. SWAT then utilized an armored vehicle equipped with a battering ram to breach the front door and front windows of the residence. A drone was deployed into the residence, allowing SWAT to maintain a visual of the suspect. A short time later, the suspect exited the residence wearing nothing but a t-shirt. The suspect complied with commands and was taken into custody. He was later transported to a local hospital for precautionary evaluation. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement official and felony flight.
