US, Phoenix: Phoenix Firefighters Battle Multiple Suspicious Fire In The Salt River Bed.

Phoenix, United States - August 09, 2026 08/08/2026 09:10 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix fire crews responded to reports of a brush fire in the Salt River under the 7th Street bridge. According to Phoenix fire and Phoenix police officials at the scene, firefighters arrived to find multiple separate fires in the riverbed. As crews worked to extinguish the fires, additional fires began to appear in the immediate area. Phoenix police responded to the scene to assist firefighters due to the suspicious nature of the fires. Officers searched the area and stood by with fire crews to ensure the fire scene was secure during firefighting operations. Fire crews utilized four-wheel drive brush trucks to access the fires. A water tanker was dispatched to the scene to establish a water supply due to a lack of available hydrants near the fireground. It is unknown if an arson suspect was located.
