Jul 11, 2026
Phoenix, United States - July 11, 2026 07/10/2026 08:46 p.m. GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – A two-vehicle traffic collision caused a power outage and significant traffic congestion at the intersection of 67th Avenue and McDowell Road, leading to lane closures on Friday night. Police and fire crews were dispatched to the intersection at 8:46 p.m. in response to reports of the traffic collision. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered a collision involving a pickup truck and a sedan. The impact of the crash propelled the sedan into a power pole on the southeast side of the intersection, resulting in the pole leaning over. As a result, power was disrupted on 67th Avenue between McDowell Road and Interstate 10, causing a large traffic jam as drivers navigated through the affected traffic lights. In response to the collision, police closed several lanes at the McDowell intersection, directing motorists to detour through a dirt lot to bypass the scene. Power crews were also dispatched to the location to restore electricity as tow trucks began the process of removing the vehicles involved. The extent of injuries sustained by the occupants remains unknown.
