US, Phoenix: Phoenix Collision Involving MCSO Prisoner Transport Van.

Phoenix, United States - July 25, 2026 07/24/2026 10:40 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police, Phoenix fire, and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the intersection of 19th Avenue and I-17 following reports of a collision involving a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office prisoner transport van. According to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office officials at the scene, the transport van was involved in a collision with a dark-colored SUV on 19th Avenue near the I-17 underpass. One deputy and two prisoners from the transport van were evaluated by Phoenix fire crews at the scene. MCSO was unable to confirm the extent of their injuries or if they were hospitalized; however, three ambulances were seen leaving the scene of the crash with lights and sirens activated. One occupant from the involved SUV was evaluated at the scene and refused hospitalization. Maricopa County Sheriff's Office detectives responded to the scene and assumed command of the crash investigation. A several-hour closure was established for 19th Avenue while the investigation unfolded.
