US, Phoenix: Mesa L-202 Closed Following Crash Involving Police Motorcycle.

Phoenix, United States - June 09, 2026 06/08/2026 09:03 pm GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. – Shortly after 9:00 p.m. Monday, firefighters with the Mesa Fire Department and troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to assist Mesa police after one of their motorcycle units was involved in a collision on the northbound Santan Loop 202 just south of Elliot Road. According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, the officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A white SUV with a broken front wheel was seen on the shoulder where the collision occurred. Troopers and Arizona Department of Transportation Incident Response Unit units closed the northbound lanes of the Loop 202 between Hawes Road and Elliot Road, including the transition ramp from the State Route 24 to the northbound Loop 202, as detectives began investigating the collision. The freeway was reopened just before 3:00 a.m. Tuesday.
