US, Phoenix: Phoenix Police Assistant Injured In Crash.

Phoenix, United States - July 11, 2026 07/10/2026 10:24 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – A Phoenix Police assistant's vehicle was struck by a pickup while providing traffic control at the scene of a traffic collision Friday night. Phoenix Police and police assistants were providing traffic control following a previous traffic collision that had knocked out power at the intersection of 67th Avenue and McDowell Road around 8:45 p.m. Friday. A marked police assistance pickup truck was parked with its amber lights flashing to direct traffic around the crash on McDowell Road. At approximately 10:25 p.m., another pickup truck collided with the police assistant's vehicle. Phoenix Fire personnel were dispatched and transported the police assistant to a local hospital in unknown condition. Firefighters evaluated the driver of the pickup truck, who declined transport to the hospital. Officers conducted field sobriety tests on the driver, who was subsequently placed in handcuffs and taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
