US, Phoenix: Phoenix Woman In Custody After Driving Wrong-Way On Loop 101.

Phoenix, United States - August 07, 2026 08/07/2026 02:06 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to Arizona Department of Public Safety officials at the scene, a DPS trooper observed a Buick SUV traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the Loop 101 at Maryland Avenue at approximately 2:06 AM. The driver self-corrected, traveling northbound in the northbound lanes, exited the Loop 101 at Glendale Avenue, then re-entered the southbound Loop 101. Troopers caught up to the vehicle traveling southbound in the southbound lanes of the Loop 101 near Thomas Road. The vehicle was swerving left to right, failing to maintain its lane of travel. Troopers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near McDowell Road. The driver yielded on the southbound McDowell Road off-ramp. The adult female driver was detained, and a series of field sobriety tests were conducted. The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of impairment and driving the wrong way. Troopers located an open container of alcohol upon searching the vehicle.
