US, Phoenix: Phoenix Suspect Barricaded In Car Arrested By Police.

Phoenix, United States - July 15, 2026 07/15/2026 02:00 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, officers with the Phoenix Police Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a silver passenger car in the area of 15th Avenue and McDowell Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The reason for the traffic stop has not been confirmed. When officers activated their lights and sirens, the driver failed to yield, and felony flight was established. Ground units fell back to a safe distance as the vehicle was tracked by the Phoenix Police Department’s helicopter, known as "Firebird." The vehicle eventually drove to a parking lot on the southeast corner of the Phoenix Public Library, where it came to a stop. Units converged on the vehicle and began issuing commands for the driver to exit. The driver did not comply with directions as members of the Phoenix Police Department's Tactical Support Bureau arrived on the scene. Tactical Support Bureau units strategically positioned their patrol vehicles to box the suspect in and prevent any escape. Eventually, the suspect exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.
