US, Phoenix: Phoenix Teen In Custody After Pursuit Ends In PIT Maneuver.

Phoenix, United States - October 05, 2026 10/04/2026 10:45 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to stop a Mercedes sedan driving recklessly in the eastbound lanes of the Red Mountain Loop 202 from the Mini-Stack. According to DPS officials at the scene, the driver of the Mercedes refused to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect eventually exited the Loop 202 at 40th Street. A StarChase tracking device was deployed from the trooper's vehicle onto the fleeing Mercedes as the suspect made a northbound turn onto 40th Street. A DPS trooper conducted a physical immobilization technique (PIT) on the suspect’s vehicle as it turned east on McDowell Road from 40th Street. The PIT was successful in stopping the suspect's vehicle. Troopers initiated a high-risk traffic stop. The suspect, identified as a 16-year-old male juvenile, was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. He faces several charges, including reckless driving and felony flight.
