US, Phoenix: Phoenix Suspect In Custody After Stolen Vehicle Recovery.

Phoenix, United States - August 18, 2026 08/18/2026 12:15 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to Phoenix police at the scene, officers located an occupied stolen vehicle sitting stationary at a QuikTrip gas station near 19th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue. Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau resources and the Phoenix Police Department helicopter responded to the area, and a surveillance operation was initiated. A short time later, the vehicle left the QuikTrip traveling northbound on 19th Avenue. Unmarked TSB units followed the suspect's vehicle from a distance while the helicopter tracked from above. TSB units converged on the vehicle as it crossed Hatcher Road on 19th Avenue. A Grappler Police Bumper was deployed, and a high-risk traffic stop was initiated. A male suspect was taken into custody without incident. Two small dogs were located inside the stolen vehicle. The dogs were later released into the custody of a responsible party known to the suspect.
