US, Phoenix: Phoenix Suspect Crashes Into Tree After Fleeing From Police.

Phoenix, United States - June 02, 2026 06/02/2026 01:48 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to the Phoenix Police Department at the scene, officers attempted to stop a Chevy Silverado in the Laveen area. The suspect refused to yield, and felony flight was established. Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau units and the Phoenix Police Department helicopter responded to assist. The police helicopter quickly located the suspect, and a tactical surveillance operation was initiated. Ground units fell back to a safe distance, out of the suspect's line of sight, allowing the air unit to track the suspect from above. The helicopter tracked the suspect through the Laveen area and into South Phoenix. The suspect eventually crashed into a tree after failing to negotiate a westbound turn from 2nd Avenue onto Weir Avenue. The tree was uprooted and fell to the ground, blocking Weir Avenue. Ground units quickly converged on the scene of the traffic collision and initiated a high-risk traffic stop. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and refused medical attention. Officers utilized a tow strap and a patrol SUV to clear the downed tree out of the roadway.
