US, Phoenix: Phoenix Suspect In Custody After Vehicle Theft Task Force Operation.

Phoenix, United States - August 07, 2026 08/07/2026 04:30 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – A man was taken into custody following a foot pursuit stemming from a multi-agency vehicle theft task force operation early Friday morning. Members of the multi-agency vehicle theft task force, comprising troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and officers from local police departments, located a reportedly stolen Hyundai Elantra with a broken rear window near Loop 101 and Indian School Road around 4:30 a.m. Friday. Unmarked units began following the vehicle to the area of 71st Avenue and McDowell Road, where the driver exited the vehicle. Troopers and police made contact with the driver when he fled on foot. Officers began pursuing the suspect on foot and deployed a police K9, which bit the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody before being evaluated by Phoenix firefighters and transported for minor injuries he sustained during his apprehension.
