US, Phoenix: Phoenix Police Use Grappler To Stop Stolen U-Haul Van.

Phoenix, United States - June 23, 2026 06/23/2026 01:30 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to Phoenix police, officers spotted an occupied stolen U-Haul transit van near Interstate 17 and Camelback Road. Officers requested assistance from the Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau and the Phoenix police helicopter as the van traveled east on Camelback Road. Unmarked units established surveillance positions behind the van while the air unit followed overhead. Officers tracked the van to a Circle K gas station near 15th Avenue and Indian School Road. A short time later, the van exited the gas station traveling westbound on Indian School Road. Tactical Support Bureau officers converged on the van as it crossed 19th Avenue on Indian School Road. A Grappler Police Bumper was deployed, and the van was brought to an abrupt stop just west of Indian School Road. Officers quickly converged on the van and established a high-risk traffic stop. The driver was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint and taken into custody without incident. A passenger was also detained.
