US, Phoenix: Phoenix Suspect In Custody After Hours Long Barricade Inside Bar.

Phoenix, United States - August 25, 2026 08/25/2026 02:00 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to Phoenix police at the scene, officers initially responded to reports of a man with a gun at the Dunes Cocktail Lounge near 35th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue. Officers surrounded the bar and issued commands for several hours, but the suspect refused to exit the establishment. The Phoenix Police Special Assignments Unit (SWAT team) resources later arrived at the scene and assumed operational command of the incident. An SAU crisis negotiator attempted to convince the suspect to surrender peacefully for several hours with no success. Additional SAU resources arrived at the scene in armored vehicles and devised a plan to breach the front door of the establishment. A Lenco Bearcat equipped with a battering ram was used to break down the front entrance door. SAU teams deployed irritant agents into the structure while the negotiator continued to communicate with the suspect via a public address system. An SAU team entered the bar shortly before 8:00 AM, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Phoenix fire crews evaluated the suspect at the scene but did not transport him to the hospital.
