May 2, 2026
Phoenix, United States - May 02, 2026 05/02/2026 02:58 am GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. – The Mesa Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire in the 2100 block of East Quince Street shortly before 3:00 a.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story house with heavy smoke and fire emanating from the garage. The fire quickly spread throughout the house and into the attic. Firefighters initiated an offensive attack while clearing the structure for any potential occupants. However, due to the intense flames and concerns about the structural integrity, they transitioned to a defensive strategy, fighting the fire from the exterior using hand lines and an elevated master stream. The fire was upgraded to a first alarm, which brought additional resources to assist in combating the blaze. According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, the house was being remodeled, and no occupants were inside at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
