Phoenix, United States - May 20, 2026 05/20/2026 02:39 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire near the 4800 block of West Lower Buckeye Road at approximately 2:39 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found a large fire burning through heaps of waste inside the transfer station warehouse. The assignment was upgraded to a first alarm due to the size and severity of the blaze, drawing additional resources to the scene. Firefighters extended two tower ladders near the bay doors at the front of the transfer station. Elevated master streams were deployed from the tower ladders into the structure, allowing crews to achieve an effective knockdown on the bulk of the fire. Phoenix Fire Department investigators responded to determine the fire's source of origin. With fire control achieved, the scene was turned over to Republic Services site management for overhaul. No injuries were reported.
