US, Phoenix: Cave Creek 2 Airlifted To Hospital After Fiery Crash.

Phoenix, United States - May 17, 2026 05/16/2026 10:55 pm GMT-0700 CAVE CREEK, Ariz. – The Daisy Mountain and Phoenix Fire Departments were called to the area of North 12th Street and East Carefree Highway for a traffic collision with multiple vehicles on fire at 10:55 p.m. Saturday. On arrival, crews discovered 2 vehicles, a white pickup truck and a blue sedan, both on fire. The incident was upgraded to a first-alarm medical response, bringing additional firefighting resources to the scene due to the number of patients and the severity of their conditions. According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, a total of 5 patients were evaluated and treated for burn injuries. Two patients, including a 70-year-old female, were transported by MedEvac helicopters to a nearby burn center in serious condition. Three patients with unknown burn injuries were also transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital in unknown condition. An additional female was taken later by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Department deputies are on scene investigating the cause of the collision. Carefree Highway is closed in both directions, starting at 7th Street and 12th Street.
