Los Angeles, United States - September 16, 2026 09/16/2026 02:52 am GMT-0700 CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Emergency crews responded to a helicopter crash Tuesday evening near the intersection of De Soto Avenue and Nordhoff Street. The first units on the scene reported that an unknown make and type of helicopter had crash-landed between two commercial buildings, producing a significant plume of flames. Firefighters began an offensive attack to control the blaze, as the fire threatened four nearby vehicles. At the same time, emergency crews assessed patients and began medical triage. Initial reports from the scene indicated that the aircraft might have been a news helicopter. It has now been confirmed as NBC4. The Los Angeles Police Department was also on the scene. While the number and extent of injuries remain unknown, preliminary reports suggest that two individuals in the helicopter and one person on the ground were found deceased at the scene. Later, KNN footage shows personnel from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner arriving to retrieve the bodies. NBC Los Angeles confirmed the helicopter was NewsChopper4, which is operated by Angel City Air, and was providing news coverage of a crash involving a Metro bus in the West San Fernando Valley. NBC4 reported that the victims aboard the helicopter were Angel City Air employees Eliana Moreno, a familiar voice for NBC4 and Telemundo 52 during the station’s aerial coverage, and pilot George Marciniw.
