Phoenix, United States - May 17, 2026 05/16/2026 11:43 pm GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. – The Mesa Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire in the 3000 block of South Santa Barbara Circle shortly after 11:40 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters arrived on scene and located a single-story house fully engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly upgraded to a first alarm assignment, bringing additional firefighting resources from the cities of Chandler and Tempe to the scene to assist in combating the extensive blaze. Firefighters established a defensive posture, fighting the fire from the exterior of the house due to the heavy fire volume. Once firefighters were able to knock down the majority of the fire, they made entry into the structure and confirmed no one was inside. Firefighters gained control of the fire in approximately 30 minutes, at which point they located a dog in the residence's backyard and reunited it with the homeowner. Investigators are on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
