Los Angeles, United States - July 06, 2026 07/05/2026 07:47 pm GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Firefighters stopped the forward progress of a brush fire that reignited near apartments in Santa Clarita Sunday evening. The original blaze, dubbed the Mike Fire, was first reported at 1:58 p.m. near the Iron Horse Trailhead in the 25100 block of Magic Mountain Parkway, east of Six Flags Magic Mountain and Interstate 5. Crews quickly contained that fire to approximately one-quarter acre. The fire’s forward progress was stopped by 2:14 p.m. Just after 6:20 p.m., flames flared up again in dense vegetation along the South Fork River Trail, prompting a renewed first-alarm response that was quickly upgraded to a second alarm as the fire spread. Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopters responded to assist ground crews, delivering water drops while transporting a hand crew into the area amid the presence of hazardous high-voltage power lines. Firefighters stopped the fire’s forward progress shortly before 7 p.m. Officials are investigating whether the evening fire was a rekindle of the original blaze or arson.
