US, Phoenix: Apache Junction Barricaded Woman In Custody After SWAT Situation.

Phoenix, United States - August 23, 2026 08/22/2026 09:30 pm GMT-0700 APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. – The Apache Junction Police Department and Pinal County Sheriff's Office converged on a house at the corner of South Mountain View Road and Broadway Road in Apache Junction at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday. According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, a woman was barricaded inside the house with a small child after she was reportedly involved in a traffic collision. SWAT officers from the Pinal County Regional SWAT team arrived at the scene in armored Bearcats and surrounded the house. Additional police and sheriff resources established a command post at the nearby Desert Vista Elementary School parking lot. SWAT officers were heard issuing commands for the female suspect to exit with her hands up. After attempting to negotiate with the barricaded woman for approximately 45 minutes, a Bearcat with a battering ram was utilized to remove a door of the house before a bomb robot and a drone were deployed inside the house. Shortly after, SWAT officers made entry into the home and were seen extracting the small child to safety. Shortly after, the woman was seen being escorted from the house in handcuffs. Five houses south of where the woman was taken into custody, a house was seen surrounded by crime scene tape with a car in the driveway with its doors open and several articles of clothing on the ground. Initial unconfirmed information suggests that the reported shooting occurred at this location. It is unknown which of the two agencies is leading the investigation.
