US, Phoenix: Phoenix Diesel Spill Prompts HazMat Response On I-17.

Phoenix, United States - July 27, 2026 07/27/2026 03:24 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and Phoenix fire crews responded to the area of northbound I-17 near Dunlap Avenue for reports of diesel fuel leaking from a semi truck. According to Arizona Department of Public Safety officials at the scene, a semi hauling a fuel tanker was traveling northbound on the I-17 near Dunlap Avenue when it struck a piece of debris in the lanes of travel. The debris punctured the saddle tank on the cab of the semi, causing a significant diesel fuel leak. Troopers arrived to find the semi stopped off right near the northbound Dunlap Avenue on-ramp. Phoenix fire hazardous materials crews arrived at the scene and began working to mitigate the fuel leak. Troopers and Arizona Department of Transportation crews established multiple lane restrictions prior to the scene, siphoning all northbound traffic through the area in the HOV lane. The northbound Dunlap Avenue on-ramp was closed completely due to its proximity to the leak.
