US, Phoenix: Phoenix Suspect Detained Following 7th Avenue Hit And Run Pedestrian Collision.

Phoenix, United States - September 04, 2026 09/04/2026 02:05 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police and Phoenix fire crews responded to reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision near 7th Avenue and Clarendon Avenue. According to Phoenix police at the scene, officers and fire crews arrived to find an unidentified pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was transported to a local trauma center in extremely critical condition with CPR in progress. The involved vehicle fled the scene prior to the arrival of first responders. A short time later, a male who admitted to being the hit-and-run driver was dropped off at the scene of the crash. The male told officers he fled the scene and drove to a friend's house near 19th Avenue and Indian School Road. The suspect told his friend about the collision, and the friend convinced the suspect to return to the scene. The friend then drove the suspect back to the scene of the crash and gave officers the location of the involved vehicle. The suspect was detained following a series of field sobriety tests. Impairment is being investigated as a possible contributing factor. A hard closure has been established for 7th Avenue, spanning from Clarendon Avenue to Whitton Avenue while the Phoenix Police Vehicular Crimes Unit detectives investigate the collision.
