US, Phoenix: Tolleson DPS Pursuit Ends In PIT Maneuver.

Phoenix, United States - May 02, 2026 05/02/2026 01:15 am GMT-0700 TOLLESON, Ariz. – An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to stop a speeding Mustang traveling southbound on the Loop 101 near Indian School Road. The vehicle refused to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect led troopers south on the 101 then east on the I-10. A short time later, the suspect entered the southbound South Mountain Loop 202 and exited at Lower Buckeye Road traveling west. The Phoenix Police Department helicopter responded to assist and located the vehicle traveling west on Lower Buckeye Road near 83rd Avenue. The suspect eventually made a northbound turn onto 99th Avenue, leading troopers back to the I-10. A trooper in an unmarked Ford Mustang patrol vehicle performed a physical immobilization technique (PIT maneuver) as the suspect attempted to enter the westbound I-10 from 99th Avenue. The PIT maneuver was successful and the suspect immediately lost control of his vehicle. Troopers utilized their patrol vehicle to pin the suspect's vehicle in place. A high-risk traffic stop was initiated and the suspect was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint. The suspect was then taken into custody without further incident. A female passenger was detained and later released. The suspect faces multiple charges including felony flight and reckless driving.
