The vehicle was reported by multiple witnesses as being wedged between the bridge, with significant damage. Emergency services, including the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), responded to the scene following reports of a solo vehicle traffic collision. The reports indicated that the vehicle had left the road and become stuck between an off-ramp and an overpass. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a SigAlert for approximately two hours, advising motorists of a hard closure from the northbound 5 to the eastbound 10 while LAFD worked on the scene. Despite their efforts, the sole occupant of the Kia Optima was pronounced dead at the scene by LAFD.
