US, Phoenix: Glendale Driver In Custody After Striking Pedestrian.

Phoenix, United States - May 13, 2026 05/13/2026 12:00 am GMT-0700 GLENDALE, Ariz. – Glendale police and Glendale Fire Department crews responded to the intersection of Bethany Home Road and 59th Avenue for reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, crews located an unidentified pedestrian that was struck by a red Toyota pickup truck in the southbound lanes of 59th Avenue, south of Bethany Home Road. The pedestrian was transported to a local trauma center via Maricopa Ambulance in unknown condition. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene. Officers administered a series of field sobriety tests to the driver. The driver was taken into custody following the conclusion of the tests. A closure was established for southbound 59th Avenue at Bethany Home Road while officers investigated the traffic collision.
