US, Phoenix: Phoenix Fatal Vehicle vs Semi Truck Collision.

Phoenix, United States - June 29, 2026 06/29/2026 02:00 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police and Phoenix fire crews responded to reports of a traffic collision requiring extrication near the intersection of 51st Avenue and Van Buren Street. According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, a Kia Optima sedan collided into the back of a tractor trailer. Officers and firefighters arrived to find a male driver pinned inside the Optima. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by personnel from the Phoenix Fire Department. A hard closure has been established for the intersection while the Phoenix Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Unit detectives investigate the crash. The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.
