US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Man Safely Brought Down From Roof After Hourlong Negotiation.

Bakersfield, United States - August 22, 2026 08/22/2026 02:40 am GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A man was safely brought down from the roof of a building early this morning in the 2400 block of L Street after refusing to come down for at least an hour. The incident began around 2:40 a.m. The Bakersfield Police Department negotiated with the man as he remained on the roof. During the incident, the man was heard asking officers what would happen to him if he agreed to come down. The man eventually agreed to descend, and the Bakersfield Fire Department was called to provide a ladder to help him safely reach the ground. He was detained at the scene for further evaluation. The Bakersfield Police Department and Bakersfield Fire Department responded.
