The incident was reported around 5:45 p.m. One person sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim's current condition is unknown. Officers from the Bakersfield Police Department responded to the scene, where detectives and crime scene investigators spent several hours processing evidence. A bicycle, articles of clothing, and multiple evidence markers were visible within the crime scene as investigators documented the area. An extensive perimeter was established as the investigation continued. It remains unclear whether a suspect is in custody. The Bakersfield Police Department is managing the investigation.
