US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Fatal Vehicle vs Pedestrian on South H Street.

Bakersfield, United States - June 20, 2026 06/20/2026 01:35 am GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – An investigation is underway after a vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian near South H Street and Pacheco Road early this morning. The collision occurred around 1:35 a.m. in the southbound lanes of H Street. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, a bicycle was found along the side of the roadway. The driver involved stopped nearby and is being questioned by Bakersfield Police Department investigators. A DUI test was administered to the driver, though it is unknown at this time whether impairment was a factor in the collision. About an hour into the investigation, a separate vehicle allegedly drove through a Bakersfield Police Department roadblock and entered the crime scene. Officers stopped the vehicle before it reached the victim’s body. It is unclear whether the driver was impaired. The Bakersfield Police Department is handling the investigation.
