US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield 1 Dead After Stabbing, Crime Scene Detectives on Scene Part 3 UPDATE.

Bakersfield, United States - September 12, 2026 09/11/2026 08:11 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Update From Bakersfield Police Department: On Friday, September 11, 2026, at approximately 8:20 p.m., the Bakersfield Police Department responded to the Target store, located at 2901 Ming Avenue, for a report of a stabbing that had just occurred. Officers arrived within three minutes and discovered an adult male suffering from major injuries. Officers rendered medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Simultaneously, officers located and detained a possible suspect without incident. A knife believed to be used in the offense was located nearby. It is believed there is no further threat to the community. The investigation revealed the victim and suspect were involved in an altercation in the parking lot, which continued into the Target store, where the victim became injured. Currently, the investigation is ongoing, and the identity of the victim will be released by the Kern County Coroner's Office at a later time. The Bakersfield Police Department wishes to thank the staff of Target and their Asset Protection team, as well as the Valley Plaza Mall security team for their assistance in this investigation. The incident was reported around 8:22 p.m. Two people were transported to a hospital from the scene, including one person believed to be a suspect. Three additional individuals were detained at the scene after being questioned. The circumstances leading up to the stabbing remain unclear. A large portion of the Target parking lot was taped off, allowing people to leave the area but restricting entry. A large amount of blood and several items were visible between two parking stalls. Multiple Bakersfield Fire Department engines responded. The Bakersfield Police Department is handling the investigation.
