Bakersfield, United States - September 06, 2026 09/06/2026 03:00 am GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Video captured by Key News Network shows multiple traffic stops conducted by the California Highway Patrol throughout early Sunday morning in Downtown Bakersfield as officers increased enforcement during the Labor Day holiday weekend. Several other traffic stops were observed throughout the downtown area overnight. The following are the stops captured by KNN cameras, with video timestamps: 0:00–0:28 — 22nd and L streets A driver was given a field sobriety test during a traffic stop. The driver appeared to pass the test and was released at the scene. 0:28–2:07 — K and 20th streets At around 1:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop and administered field sobriety tests. The driver was later taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. 2:07–3:30 — Chester Avenue, north of 24th Street Sometime after 2 a.m., another driver was given field sobriety tests before being taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. 3:30–6:07 — 21st Street, east of Chester Avenue At around 2:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers stopped a black vehicle that was facing the wrong direction during the investigation. A woman was given field sobriety tests. According to a man at the scene who said the woman had been picking him up, she declined a breath test after receiving feedback from him. Officers later took the woman into custody on suspicion of DUI. Multiple additional traffic stops were conducted in the area throughout the night and early morning. These incidents represent only the stops captured by KNN cameras. The activity comes as the California Highway Patrol conducts its Labor Day Holiday Enforcement Period, which began Friday at 6 p.m. and continues through 11:59 p.m. Monday. California Highway Patrol officials said officers will maintain a strong focus on identifying and removing impaired drivers from California roadways during the holiday enforcement period. California Highway Patrol is urging motorists to plan ahead and designate a sober driver or arrange for a safe ride home if their Labor Day plans include alcohol.
