US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Suspected DUI Crash Leaves Another Seriously Injured.

Bakersfield, United States - June 28, 2026 06/28/2026 12:07 am GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – An investigation is underway following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of California Avenue and Chester Lane early this morning. The collision was reported shortly after midnight. A sedan driver suffered major injuries and required extrication by firefighters using the Jaws of Life. The individual reportedly received CPR at the scene before being transported to a local hospital. The SUV involved in the incident came to rest further down California Avenue, near the Black Bear Diner. Its driver underwent field sobriety tests and was detained under suspicion of driving under the influence before being transported to a hospital. The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. Responding agencies included the Bakersfield Police Department, Bakersfield Fire Department, and Kern County Fire Department.
