US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Chase Ends in Major Injury Crash.

Bakersfield, United States - July 30, 2026 07/29/2026 10:10 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A pursuit ended in a crash at Niles Street and Mount Vernon Avenue late this evening, according to preliminary information from initial reports. The pursuit began around 10 p.m. A woman inside the suspect vehicle sustained major injuries and required stabilization at the scene before being lifted onto a gurney and transported to a local hospital. A male suspect fled the crash on foot, prompting the Kern County Sheriff's Office to establish a perimeter south of the scene near the 2000 block of Lake Street. Deputies later responded to Monterey Street after receiving information that a potential suspect was hiding beneath a vehicle. Deputies located the man, rendered medical aid, and transported him to a local hospital. Sheriff's deputies escorted the ambulance to the hospital. It is unclear if that man was the suspect. The Kern County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
