US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Investigation After Vehicle Strikes Pedestrian.

Bakersfield, United States - June 19, 2026 06/19/2026 12:57 am GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene near the intersection of California Avenue and Real Road early this morning. The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Officers from the Bakersfield Police Department arrived and discovered the victim lying in the roadway with major injuries. They requested medical aid to expedite due to the severity of the injuries. The Kern County Sheriff’s Department’s helicopter assisted in attempts to locate the suspect vehicle, but it remains unclear if the vehicle was found. As part of the investigation, eastbound California Avenue was closed from Chester Lane to Real Road. A mirror found in the roadway is believed to be from the suspect’s vehicle. The Bakersfield Police Department is leading the investigation.
