US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Chase Ends in Standoff, Suspect Armed with Knife.

Bakersfield, United States - May 13, 2026 05/12/2026 11:25 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A suspect led the California Highway Patrol on a high-speed chase in the area of Coffee Road and Rosedale Highway late last night. The pursuit began around 11:00 pm and concluded shortly thereafter when officers were able to maneuver the vehicle to a stop. Following the stop, a standoff occurred as law enforcement spent nearly three hours attempting to persuade the suspect to exit the vehicle. Officers employed various means, including commands, pepper spray, less-lethal munitions to break out the windows, and tasers due to reports that the man was armed with a knife. The suspect was eventually removed from the vehicle, where he was found visibly bloody and covered in pepper spray. Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment. The vehicle showed extensive damage, including significant front-end damage, broken windows, and missing tires. The California Highway Patrol, Kern County Sheriff's Department, and Bakersfield Police Department assisted on the scene.
