US, Los Angeles: West Covina Pursuit Ends in Arrest after Spike Strip Incident.

Los Angeles, United States - August 25, 2026 08/25/2026 02:30 am GMT-0700 WEST COVINA, Calif. – A California Highway Patrol unit from the East Los Angeles station attempted to pull over a blue SUV this evening while traveling westbound on the 60 Freeway at Atlantic Boulevard in Montebello. The driver did not comply and fled, leading officers on a pursuit westbound on the 60 Freeway before heading northbound on the 710 Freeway in East Los Angeles. The suspect then took the eastbound 10 Freeway from the 710 Freeway, reaching speeds over 100 mph. An air unit from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department assisted the California Highway Patrol by providing updates on the pursuit from above. Meanwhile, a CHP officer from the Baldwin Park area set up a spike strip on the eastbound 10 Freeway at Azusa Avenue in West Covina. It remains unclear if the suspect's vehicle struck the spike strip. Two civilian vehicles, along with two California Highway Patrol units, hit the spike strip but managed to exit the freeway safely. The suspect subsequently exited the freeway and entered a residential neighborhood in West Covina, where they crashed the vehicle into bushes at the intersection of South Lark Ellen Avenue and East Fairgrove Avenue. A male and a female fled from the vehicle into an adjacent apartment complex. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department air unit coordinated with California Highway Patrol units to track the suspects, leading to their apprehension. Both the male and female were taken into custody. No injuries were reported to the civilians who hit the spike strips.
