According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, the incident began with a robbery at a 7-Eleven store, leading to a chase involving the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers pursued the suspect in a Kia onto the 405 Freeway, where the pursuit concluded in the northbound lanes near Howard Hughes Parkway in Westchester. Los Angeles Police Department Officer Cervantes confirmed that the chase ended with an officer-involved shooting, but it remains unclear whether the officers struck the suspect. Video footage from the scene showed the suspect down on the freeway in an unknown condition. A SigAlert was issued by the California Highway Patrol for the closure of all northbound lanes, and traffic is being diverted off the freeway at Howard Hughes Parkway until further notice.
