US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield 17 Year Old Shot and Killed at High School Football Game Part 2.

Bakersfield, United States - August 22, 2026 08/21/2026 08:00 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A shooting took place this evening at Independence High School, located at McCutchen Road and Old River Road, during the first game of the season. A 17-year-old victim sustained at least one gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital, where he later died. The Bakersfield Police Department reported that a group of individuals was involved in an altercation before the shots were fired. It remains unclear how many suspects are involved or if there was any previous relationship between the individuals. Police indicated that there may be multiple locations nearby where the shooting could have occurred, noting that it happened just south of the stadium but inside the fenced area of the football field. Detectives were seen entering and exiting the scene as they collected evidence. As of now, the suspect remains at large. The Bakersfield Police Department is handling the investigation.
