US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Woman Detained After Gunfire Reported Inside Jefferson Street Home.

Bakersfield, United States - August 19, 2026 08/18/2026 07:30 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A woman was detained after reports of gunfire inside a residence in the 1110 block of Jefferson Street this evening. The incident was reported around 7:30 p.m. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and heard shots being fired from inside the residence while they were on scene. Nearby neighbors told me that this is a recurring situation with the woman shooting a firearm inside the residence. The woman eventually exited the home and was detained. Deputies then deployed a drone inside the residence to clear the home before entering to search for evidence. No injuries were reported, and the Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies stated they did not fire at the woman. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
