The incident was reported near the 1700 block of Pacific Coast Highway shortly after 2 a.m. The woman was reportedly struck by a vehicle, later possibly being struck by a tractor-trailer. All vehicles involved appeared to remain at the scene. The victim was reportedly trapped beneath the big rig at one point before being transported to a hospital in unknown condition, according to reports. A witness at the scene told Key News Network that the woman had possibly been involved in a domestic altercation with a man moments before she was struck. The witness alleged that the man may have pushed the woman into the roadway before she was hit by passing vehicles. Police have not independently confirmed that account. Officers were seen taking a man into custody at the scene. A dog believed to belong to the woman and the man was also struck by passing vehicles and was reported to be in grave condition. Animal control was requested to respond.
