US, Phoenix: Phoenix Police and DPS Detectives Arrest 3 Suspects After Stolen Vehicle Chase.

Phoenix, United States - June 11, 2026 06/11/2026 12:00 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Detectives from the Arizona Department of Public Safety Vehicle Theft Task Force were conducting a surveillance operation in a residential area near 47th Avenue and Southern Avenue around midnight. According to detectives, the Vehicle Theft Task Force was tracking a stolen Nissan Maxima occupied by three male suspects. The suspects, dressed in hooded sweatshirts, ski masks, and latex gloves, were casing the area and attempting to break into multiple parked vehicles. DPS detectives requested assistance from the Phoenix Police Department after witnessing multiple vehicle burglary attempts by the suspects. A Phoenix police helicopter arrived overhead and quickly located the suspects. Resources from the Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau coordinated an apprehension strategy with the detectives from DPS. As the suspects tried to leave the neighborhood after yet another attempted vehicle burglary, DPS and Phoenix police units converged on the stolen Nissan. The suspects accelerated and fled the scene, exiting the neighborhood from 47th Avenue before fleeing eastbound on Southern Avenue at a high rate of speed. A Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau unit successfully deployed stop sticks, puncturing the passenger side tires of the vehicle, near Southern Avenue and 35th Avenue. The suspects continued east on Southern Avenue for a short distance before entering a residential neighborhood near 23rd Avenue and Southern Avenue. The suspects abandoned the vehicle on foot near the 2200 block of West Chambers Street. DPS and Phoenix police quickly established a perimeter around the neighborhood, with the Phoenix police helicopter tracking the suspects as they fled through multiple residential yards. The first two suspects were found hiding in a carport near 20th Lane and Hidalgo Street, where they were taken into custody without incident. The third suspect was located in a backyard near Chambers Street and Vista Grande Avenue. According to Phoenix police, this suspect refused to comply with commands and disabled a police drone with a blanket. The suspect was taken into custody only after the deployment of less-lethal munitions. All three suspects were handed over to DPS detectives for booking and processing on multiple felony charges.
