US, Phoenix: Phoenix Death Investigation Shuts Down Interstate 10.

Phoenix, United States - May 17, 2026 05/16/2026 11:40 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and Phoenix police responded to reports of a person down in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 under 12th Street. According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, one unidentified subject was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Phoenix Police Department assumed command of the investigation. Eastbound Interstate 10 was shut down between 7th Street and the Mini Stack for several hours while Phoenix detectives investigated the incident. The eastbound closure effectively closed the entire Interstate 10 through the downtown area due to an existing westbound full closure related to an ongoing construction project. Phoenix police confirmed that a death investigation was underway but were unable to release additional details.
